I have always been a pen and paper mind mapper — but it is even better on the computer because you can link files to the different branches of your tree. I’m taking an awesome class right now on affiliate marketing from Bob Jenkins. Bob is one of the best IM teachers I have ever taken a class from because, as a former teacher, he knows how to teach. He also gives you tons of resources as part of his class. One of those resources was Free Mind.
Free Mind is really useful open source mind mapping software that works on just about any platform. Another (almost free) mind mapping program I have been using lately with my clients is Mind Meister. Mind Meister takes the mind mapping a step further by letting you share mind maps with other people (your clients, your spouse) online via the web. You can also import mind maps from Free Mind and Mind Jet (a paid mind mapper) into mind meister to share if you buy their $4 a month membership.
