Yep,  you heard me right.  One of the best ways to make all of your hard work creating content to count is to learn everything there is to know about your target audience. Of course, it is a lot easier to get to know your audience if you are a member of your target audience (for example, a divorce coach who has been through a divorce), but even if your aren’t there are plenty of places for you to go to gather your intelligence.  No, it isn’t illegal, so you don’t need to worry about getting caught.   Learning about your target market is just plain good business.

Here is a list of questions you want to answer about your target audience:

1.  Who are they — young, old, male female?

2.   Where do they hang out?

3.  What frustrates them the most?

4. What are they the most afraid of?

5. When they want to find a solution to their problem — what keywords to the use in Google?

6. What other books and programs have they already likely bought to solve the problem?

7. The biggest reason they won’t buy from me is?

8  The biggest false idea they have is (and I can help them see the truth of it).

9. Right now, they get most of thier information about my topic from ______________, __________________ and ____________

10. I can help them overcome thier frustration and solve their problems by ________________________.

Seems like  a lot of information, but you if you know it you have the key to creating content that is useful and brings your target audience closer to buying your product or service.  Stay tuned for tomorrow’s tip where  I will share some strategies for collecting this information.
